Applications for economic aid open on Tuesday, October 12

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Social Services will begin accepting applications on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, for economic aid from New Mexico residents who:

• Was not eligible for federal pandemic stimulus payments, and

• Did not receive an economic assistance payment from the State of New Mexico in July 2021.

Payments will be made to low-income households depending on the availability of funds. The state legislature has earmarked $ 5 million for relief efforts and a first round of payments was issued in July 2021.

The online application will be available on the Yes New Mexico website, yes.state.nm.us, starting Tuesday, October 12 at 9 a.m. and must be submitted by October 22, 2021 at 3 p.m.

The requested online information is as follows:

• First name Last Name;

• One of the following: New Mexico driver’s license number, individual tax identification number, or social security number;

• Residential address and / or postal address; and

• Direct deposit information (US bank account number and routing number) if available.

“Many low-income families in New Mexico have suffered substantial economic and personal loss,” said Angela Medrano, assistant secretary of the Department of Social Services. “These funds will help people in our community who have been overlooked by federal stimulus programs and need more money to help feed and house their families.”

Payments will be processed by the New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue and will be issued by the end of November 2021. Applicants will receive notification of their eligibility status from the Department of Human Services.

To be eligible for relief, a taxpayer must not have been eligible for federal stimulus payments. In addition, they must be residents of New Mexico, have a New Mexico driver’s license number, an individual tax ID number, or a Social Security number.

What is the New Mexico Economic Assistance Payment?

The state of New Mexico has received $ 5 million to provide financial relief to hardship caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Through this federal credit, the state is offering a one-time cash assistance payment to eligible residents of New Mexico.

Payments will first be made to eligible households with the lowest incomes and a limited number of applicants will be accepted depending on the availability of funds. • Not have been eligible to receive any of the following federal stimulus and stimulus discounts:

• Up to $ 1,200 from the CARES law (March 2020).

How much will I receive?

Eligibility and payment amounts are subject to availability of funds and will be issued to lower income applicants first. Only one payment per household will be issued. Payments will be sent by the New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue.

How will I receive my payment?

Applicants will have the option of entering information about a US savings or checking account to receive a direct deposit. Direct deposit is the fastest and most secure way to get your payment. If an applicant does not provide banking information, a check will be sent to the mailing address provided. Make sure to enter a valid NM, mailing address, and verify that the name on the application matches your name on your driver’s license.

When will I receive my payment?

All direct deposits will be made and all checks mailed by the end of November 2021. Applicants will receive a final decision, including the amount of payment, from the Social Services Department.
